[ChessNwine](http://ibankcoin.com/chessnwine/2012/08/21/stock-market-recap-082112-video/) has become the top technical analyst I follow, and he’ll tell you the bulls have the initiative. Maybe stocks are poised for another melt-up rally ([Financial Sense](http://www.financialsense.com/contributors/chris-ciovacco/are-stocks-poised-for-another-melt-up-rally)). Josh Brown posted [One Direction](http://www.thereformedbroker.com/2012/08/21/one-direction/) 30 minutes prior to the morning high. Or perhaps the caution flags are being ignored ([See It Market](http://www.seeitmarket.com/weekend-market-update-yellow-caution-flags-mounting/) and [Decision Point](http://blogs.decisionpoint.com/chart_spotlight/2012/08/20120817cs.html)).

It’s a tough world out there. After putting their competitors out of business, who would have thought an outstanding big box retailer like [Best Buy](http://finance.yahoo.com/news/best-buy-2q-profit-drops-122229345.html) would have strong headwinds and trouble making money.

Doug Kass makes a strong case to Get Ready for the Fall ([The Street](http://www.thestreet.com/story/11670491/1/kass-get-ready-for-the-fall.html)).

Who are we to handicap The ECB to potentially target periphery yields via unlimited buying ([Sober Look](http://soberlook.com/2012/08/the-ecb-to-potentially-target-periphery.html)) or if Germany may give a little ([Big Picture](http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2012/08/germany-may-give-a-little/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter))? Is the reflation trade back (FCX at [ChessNwine](http://ibankcoin.com/chessnwine/2012/08/21/freeport-making-its-move/)) or is copper striking out ([Peter Brandt](http://peterlbrandt.com/triple-witching-hour-for-copper-its-one-two-three-strikes-your-out-if-you-are-long-copper/))?

We do understand the “most-important single feature of modern economies is growth ([Bill Bonner](http://dailyreckoning.com/too-much-of-a-good-thing/) at his best).” The real possibility of a [beautiful deleveraging](http://www.zerohedge.com/news/guest-post-beautiful-deleveraging) aside, this debt soaked world is binary. Policymakers will provide enough stimulus or not.
